Centre-Based Outdoor Education

Introducing Students to Outdoor Education in a Safe and Rewarding Fashion...through Centre-Based Camps should be a Thoughtful and Deliberate Decision

CENTRE-BASED OUTDOOR EDUCATION: is the most powerful way to introduce students to Outdoor Education. The focus of the Camp is more directed towards the individual and allowing them to explore aspects of self development. This occurs primarily through placing the student into a number of different experiences based around adventure-based activities. By taking a student away from their comfort zone (school / home), they can take the opportunity to explore life skills they may not have challenged in their comfort zone.

Centre-Based camps are normally 3 or 5 days in duration and are based around an adventure activity model. Final selection of activities in dependent on the site, your numbers and budget. Adventure Alternatives aims to run activities over a four hour period to allow students to have 'a good go' at each activity and to allow students to discuss and explore different communication styles, leadership theories and be given time to bond and team with other group members.

Adventure Alternatives uses a "variety of sites" for centre-based camps. With our own outdoor Education Centre at Woodford as our main base, we can also use other sites. We may select these to best meet your needs. They may have different accommodation and/or different activities which can cater for bigger groups and or may be closer to your school.

Each group of students will be guided by one of our Facilitators who will run the activity and debrief each experience to ensure the relevant learning can be achieved during program.
