Environmental Education

Creating an awareness of and appreciation for the environment is through understanding…

Adventure Alternatives has implemented a number of different programs which we can run for your school, specifically focused toward Environmental Education. The programs include:

R   Geology: With amazing views of the Glasshouse Mountains, from our Education Centre at Woodford, the students can learn first hand how the land was formed.

R   Permaculture: With Todd having official Permaculture Training, we have constructed the entire centre on Permaculture Principles, with alarge vegetable garden, companion planting and a future food forest. This makes this an ideal location for students to learn about this simple and effective land management form.

R   Life Cycle: Incorporated into the entire program we look at Water, Plant and Animal life cycles and where we, as humans, fit in and play our part.

R   Environmental Interpretation: With a combination of forest and soil types we also look at the environment with magnifying glasses, poetry and interactive games and senses trails.

The major aspect of our Environmental Education Program is allowing individuals to explore and letting kids be kids...even the big kids. So these programs are interactive and fun to be a part of.

Adventure Alternatives can also make your school camp CARBON NEUTRAL by:

R   Offsetting your Carbon use: We will plant trees either with your students or on your behalf. We currently have planted in excess of 2000 trees on our property to help offset our carbon use whilst on program.

R   Reducing and Reusing: We have implemented procedures in the business to reduce the use of paper, power, fuel and packaging, while also reusing waste of secondary use, either onsite or by third parties elsewhere.

R   Purchase Renewable Power: A simple and easy step which we all can do.

R   Limiting our Transport movement: Encouraging clients to limit their transport needs by redesigning programs and logistics to ensure we are using a minimal amount of transport to help reduce our carbon output.
